Just Had to Share…
I have been on a progressive weight-loss program as part of my journey. When I had participated in the NOH8 campaign in Austin, I weighed 212 pounds with a 36″ waist. Through regular exercise, a healthier diet (including smaller portions, cutting back sugar, reducing carbonated soda consumption), motivation, and support from friends and family, I am now at 188 pounds with a 34″ waist. I’m still bigger than when I was in high school, but returning to my size from my high school days was never the goal. The picture for this blog was taken on May 1 at the 59th WorldFest – Houston Film Festival (aka 59th Houston International Film Festival). One of the films I viewed that day was Sum Function. I had the honor and privilege of meeting the film’s director, Noah Currier (U.S. Marine Corps veteran, quadriplegic, and founder of the Oscar Mike Foundation). An amazing, award-winning movie featuring very amazing athletes!
